Title: The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid
LSU;
Rating: 5
Summary: An absolutely delightful romp into childhood. I guarantee that you will laugh out loud and share passages with others when reading this book. The pace is a wonderful summer romp on the beach with plenty of irreverent talk of others that you can't possibly do anything with other than guffaw. If you slogged through "A Short History of Nearly Everything" don't be deterred by this book. It is a short history of funny things of the 50's.
Author: Alexander McCall Smith
Title: The Miracle at Speedy Motors
LINK+
Rating: 5
Summary: As with the other No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series this is a lackadaisical read. However it grows on you and builds after the reading to an interesting commentary on life in general and life in Africa specifically. I like to pretend I am more well informed about some living in Africa after reading these books.
Author: Cioma Schonhaus
Title: The Forger

Rating: 4
Summary: An interesting insight into the life of one Jewish youth in Berlin during the second world war. It took a few pages to get used to the writing style but it became quite engaging. The story isn't quite as well put together as "Flee the Captor" but is still worth the read.
Author: C.S. Lewis

Summary: A great children’s book that is worth a second (or more) read as an adult. Plus it is always good to brush up on the book before watching the movie to see what changed for better or for worse.
